How do I open a letter?

Go back to the place where it was sealed. Within about 75 metres, open it in the app and hold the seal. Your own letters open only after you've been away for a while: at least 300 metres and 12 hours.

Why does it ask for location “Always”?

So it can tell you the moment you return, even when the app is closed. It watches only the places where you've sealed something. With “While Using”, you'll find out when you open the app.

I didn't get a notification.

Check that location is set to Always and notifications are on (Settings → Here, Again). Indoors, location is less precise, so step outside.

I got a new iPhone.

Restore from a backup of your old iPhone, and your letters come with you.

Can I get back a deleted letter?

No. Letters exist only on your phone and in its backups. We have no copy.

Someone sent me a letter. How do I open it?

Tap the .hereagain file in Messages, Mail or AirDrop and choose Here, Again. Then go to the place where it was sealed.
